NOTHING’S SET IN STONE

This ongoing body of work connects analogue photography, lithography and digital scanning. Photographs made by the artist and images drawn from a family archive are transferred onto lithographic stones. The image moves between photograph, printing surface, paper and digital object, changing with each translation.

What remains when a stone is ground down? The print carries an impression; the scan records the surface before it is erased and reused. Its form can still be turned and examined on screen, but its physical presence, weight and tactile texture are absent. Colour shifts, missing edges and scanning inaccuracies become part of this new image. The archive holds traces of surfaces that can no longer be encountered in the same way.

Prints available on request.
